Silhouette Nail Art ~ Couple Kissing In The Rain Silhouette

Hey everyone! How are you all doing! Apologies for not posting regularly. Here I’m with a romantic Silhouette Nail Art, Couple Kissing In The Rain. I wanted to do a Silhouette design for quiet a long time and finally got the chance. I received some lovely stamping image plates from Born Pretty Store and found the perfect image for this romantic design. I saw a lovely painting on YouTube of rain scenery and that inspired me for this nail art. The abstract background makes it very beautiful. I used different colors of acrylic paint to create the smokey background. Keep reading to know how I did this stamping nail design.

How I did the Nail Design

Start by applying base coat on your nails and let it dry. Applying base coat polish is a must before applying any polish. Base coat protects the natural shine of your nails and prevents staining. A good base coat polish will help your manicure stay longer.

Before doing any art work, we need to have a perfect base so that all the colors will blend nicely. Apply a white nail polish on your nail. I used various colors of acrylic paint to create the abstract background. Mix white and black to create gray color. Then add a touch of blue and fill the corners of your nail using a liner brush. Make sure you have very little paint on your brush.

The background of this nail art is all about layering colors. We need the edges to be dark. Now make the gray color bit lighter by adding white paint and tiny bit of green. Blend the dark edges leaving an oval shape in the middle. Again, you need very little paint on your brush.

Make the previous color mix more lighter with white paint and go over the dark colors. Tone down the bright white in the middle by covering it with very light gray and blend the edges too using the same color. Keep layering to add texture and to smoke out the background. After the paint dries, seal it with a layer of top coat for further art work.

Before stamping the image, make sure your nails are completely dry. Apply black polish on the image on the stamping plate, scrap off the excess. Pick the image on the stamper and roll onto your nail. There you have the lovely Silhouette of a kissing couple. Easy, isn’t it?

I used a normal black polish, so the image is not very dark. There are polishes available, which are specifically made for stamping purpose. Stamping Nail Polishes are generally thick and pigmented than normal polished. But I’m fine with the light black silhouette. After all, it’s a rainy day scenery and things are little foggy in rain.

To add some contrast and color I covered the umbrella with red acrylic paint. It definitely made the nail art more pretty.

As the last step, seal the whole design with Top Coat and you are done! See the Video Tutorial below for a clear idea.

  2. Hi Demi, the nail stamping plates here are so pretty. I just watched your video and it seems very easy to use it. If I have a friend who loves nail-polish, I’ll definitely recommend her to visit your website.

  3. There are beautiful designs for your nails. Thank you for the tutorial on how to create pretty nails. How long do you think it takes to finish the designs? It looks like it takes a long time. Is it easier to have another person do the design for you? Maybe this kit would be a good idea for a girls night. I could see this keeping a teenage girl slumber party occupied for hours.

    • Hi Steph, Thank you for liking my nails. This design took me almost half an hour as I just painted the background and used stamping technique. Yes, it’s surely easy to have another person to do the designs but I love painting my nails πŸ™‚
