Scenery Nail Art ~ Freehand Nail Art Design

Hey everyone! Wish you all a great day! Today I’ve something different for you all, a lovely Scenery Nail Art with blue sky, sea, mountain and tree. This is my first attempt at freehand landscape nail painting. I came across a beautiful painting while searching something on google and got inspired to do this freehand nail design. I used bunch of acrylic paints in this nail painting. After using the Fan brush in Dandelion Nail Art, I’m getting obsessed with fan brush technique and in this nail art too, fan brush made the work really easy. It’s kind of a impressionistic painting and I tried my best to make it beautiful. Let’s get started on how to paint this scenery on the nail.

Scenery Nail Art

Items and Tools I Used

  • Base Coat Polish
  • White Nail Polish – Sinful Colors Snow me White
  • Acrylic Paint – Blue, Dark Green, Light Green, White, Red and Dark Brown
  • Sponging Tool, from Walmart
  • Nail Art Liner Brush
  • Nail Art Fan Brush
  • Top Coat

How I did the Nail Design

Start by applying applying base coat on your nail and let it dry. As we will be using many colors in this nail design, we need an even base to start with. So paint your nail with a white nail polish and make sure your nail is completely dry before moving forward.

Thin down the blue paint by adding some water and sponge it on the nail tip with the sponging tool to create sky. You can also use a makeup sponge for this step. Mix blue and dark green to create turquoise blue and apply it where you want the water to be deep using the liner brush.

We want the color to be blended seamlessly. So I used a fan brush with the same color to create a soft transition between the sky and sea. If you feel any color mix is dark, then add little white to lighten it and if you make it very light, just add more color to get it right. With very little white paint on the liner brush, make some tiny dots and blend it well onto the sky to represent white clouds.

To make the mountain, mix blue, red and small amount of white and outline the mountain using a liner brush. I went on with the same color with a fan brush and fill the mountain by dragging the paint downwards. The key to avoid messiness is to have as little as possible paint on the brush. if you need to add some more you can easily build the color. Make tiny white lines to represent waves using the fan brush. Again, make sure you have barely any paint on the brush.

Now go over with the sea color paint on the fan brush and blend the edges. Take some dark brown paint on the liner brush and outline the ground then fill it with the same color. To add some texture, layer the dark brown with very little white paint when the brown is still wet.

Let’s put a tree on the ground. Take dark brown paint on the liner brush and draw a line from the ground to represent tree trunk. Make small lines for branches. Mix tiny bit of blue with dark green and dot it over the branches to make leaves. Highlight the leaves by using a light green paint by again making small dots randomly.

To make the ground little colorful, use green paint to create grass like effect. I added some red and pink dots to represent flowers. Wait for the paint to dry completely and seal the whole design with top coat. Among all the designs I have done so far this one involves maximum steps and took a lot of time, but it’s all worth it.
