Christmas is around the corner and if you are a beginner and searching for an easy nail art to do yourself, then this design is perfect for you. This is a no tool Nail Art and anyone can do it. I used a dotting tool just to place the stud but you can use the sharp end of pencil or the Top Coat nail polish brush itself to do the job. These nails are perfect for Christmas and holidays. I chose dark red and yellow gold color nail polish for this nail design. To make this design Christmas appropriate, I added a Golden star stud on each nail. Items and Tools I Used

  • Base Coat Nail Polish
  • Dark Red Nail Polish – Wet n Wild MegaLast Nail Color, Under Your Spell
  • Gold Nail Polish – COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss, Sulfur Blaze
  • Golden Star Stud
  • Dotting Tool to add the stud
  • Top Coat Nail Polish

How I did the Nail Design

Start by applying base coat polish on your nails and let it dry completely. Here we are using dark color polish, so it’s much more important to use a base coat. Base coat prevents staining and helps the manicure last longer. Paint all the nails with the dark red nail polish.

I used Wet n Wild MegaLast Nail Color, Under Your Spell and It is so gorgeous. As the name says, it will cast a spell on you. If you have already tried this polish, then you know the feeling. However, It is quiet thin and I had to put on three coats on my nails.

Once the polish is fully dry, apply the gold nail polish on the tips of your nail. I chose COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss, Sulfur Blaze to pair with the dark red base color. It is nicely pigmented and packed with stunning yellow gold shimmers. I added two layers of COVERGIRL Sulfur Blaze.

Now add a tiny bit of top coat where both the colors meet and insert a golden star stud. As I mentioned above, if you don’t have a dotting tool, you can use a pencil, a bobby pin or the Top Coat nail polish brush itself.

If you are using a pencil or bobby pin, simply dip it into a tiny bit of top coat to make it sticky enough to hold the accessory. If you want to use your top coat polish brush, simply wipe the brush off all the polishes and pick your desired accessory to place it on the nail.

Seal the whole design with Top Coat and you are done! See the Video Tutorial below for a clear idea.

  1. hi Demi
what an interesting but simple design! I have never seen something quite like it. I love the star on top too. It almost looks like a sea shell. I like the glitter in the gold polish and the red is just gorgeous for sure! I like deep reds. And it sure fits the holidays. I also love the designs at the very bottom of your post using the Julep nail polish!

  2. Hello. I love the beauty of your nail art. I think it is a unique way to decorate nails. It makes me want to go out and get my nails done because I do not have the talent to do them myself!
