Nail Art With Nail Polish ~ Teal Floral Nails

Hey everyone. Hope your day is going great. I want to share with you all my first attempt on Nail-Polish-only Nail Art. Normally I use acrylic paint for fine designs on nails but I thought of trying this method. When working with polish, you need to act fast. Nail Polish doesn’t give enough time to work on when doing art on nails. But as every problem has solution, I have a trick to make it work. Follow along to see how I did this Teal and Gold Nails with Nail Polish.

Nail Art With Nail Polish

Items and Tools I Used

  • Base Coat
  • Teal Glitter Nail Polish – L’Oreal Hidden Gems Nail Polish
  • Bonita Salon Nail Polish – Starry Night
  • Pink Nail Polish – Maybelline Color Show Silk Stockings
  • Rose Gold Nail Polish – Street Wear Nude Shimmer
  • Fine Detail Brush
  • Nail Polish Thinner
  • Top Coat

How I did the Nail Design

Start by applying base coat on your nails and let it dry. Then paint your nails with the L’Oreal Hidden Gems Nail Polish. It’s a gorgeous teal glitter. Check out the full review HERE. Make diagonal french manicure on nail tips using the pink nail polish. I have a dress in this color combination, so thought of replicating it on my nails.

I used Nail Polish to do the art work for this nail design. Working with Nail Polish is not as flexible as acrylic paint. Polish dry quickly and the consistency is thicker. So I added polish thinner to dilute it. Having added polish thinner, the nail polish will give you enough time to complete design. So as I go, I will be taking larger portion of Polish and add a bit of polish thinner to make it work.

Now take out some of the starry night polish(fine teal glitter) on a pallet and add polish thinner to make it thin. Pick up the polish on a fine detail brush make a branch like line on the pink tips. Make tiny bars to outline a Leaf shape and join them. I left the center empty to fill it with gold polish later. Make small leafs along the branch line. All I did to make leaves is just press the fine tip of the brush.

Take some gold polish, add polish thinner to it and highlight the teal leaves using the detail brush. Make sure you don’t have too much polish on your brush. Let the polish dry fully and seal the whole design with Top Coat.

  2. Hi Demi it’s me again, like I mentioned before serious site for women doing their nails but I got to thinking the way you go to such great detail explaining and that excellent video you have, gave me an idea. Guys could really use some of these techniques for some off the costume parties throughout the year and Halloween for the girls. Not everybody can paint their own nails but some of the guys have the talent to do it for them. I’ll see about getting some of them to check your site out.
