Yellow Stain On Nails is really disappointing. When I first used Nail Polish, that’s like a decade ago, I didn’t feel the importance of using a base coat. Over time I noticed, my nails got yellow stains. With some research, I realized, the chemicals in nail polish develops yellowness on the nail surface. Especially if you do not cover the natural nails with a clear base coat. Sometimes, even if you apply base coat polish, it still tend to develop yellow stain. I will share with you some easy DIY solutions to prevent yellowness on nails.
Always Apply Base Coat
The first and foremost is to apply base coat on your nails before applying any nail polish. It acts as a barrier from the chemicals present in nail polish. Let your nails stay without any polish for a day or two in every couple of weeks.
Buff your Nails
Each time after you remove the polish, gently buff the nails to get rid of the stained layer using a nail Buffer. Do not over buff as it will weaken the nails.
Use Diluted Hydrogen Peroxide
Take a quarter cup of water and 3 drops of Hydrogen Peroxide, mix it well and dip a Q-tip into the diluted solution. Gently sweep it onto your nail bed and under the nail tip. This will get rid of yellow nails from nail polish.
Wipe the Nails with Vinegar
Vinegar has Acetic Acid which acts a cleaning agent.Take some vinegar on a cotton pad and gently rub it on the bare nails. It will take away the yellow stain over time. Include this easy solution to your Nail Care routine. Every time after removing nail polish, rinse with clean water then wipe the nail surface with vinegar.
Baking Soda and Lemon Juice
Baking soda is known for the bleaching property. Take 2 tbsp of baking soda and lemon juice. make a paste and scrub your nails using a nail brush or tooth brush. Then rinse it with water. You can use Baking Soda and Hydrogen Peroxide paste in the same way too.
Lemon is a natural and powerful cleaning substance. Take half a bowl of lemon juice and dip your fingers for 5 minutes. Then rinse it with clean water. Follow this step as many time as possible and you will get rid of yellow nails. You can combine vinegar and lemon juice for a more efficient solution.
You can use Toothpaste for nail brightening too. Take a whitening tooth paste and brush the nails using either a tooth brush or a nail brush and rinse with with water.
Use a Nail Brighter
If you need to brighten nails instantly, then there are many nail brighteners available. Apply it before painting your nails with Polish. I love the Zeva Nail Bright.
Yellowness can also occur because of certain vitamin deficiency. So make sure you have a healthy diet to provide all the needed nutrition to your body. Get yourself checked for vitamin deficiency and take needed vitamins according to your doctor’s recommendations.
These are some easy home remedy for yellow nails. Always apply a moisturizer or hydrating oil after cleaning to maintain healthy and strong nails.
