Hey everyone! How are you doing. I think I’m getting obsessed with gradient nails. Guess you already know that by seeing much of ombre nails here on my site. This gradient design is more colorful and bright. Not ideal to wear in the winter but I guess I will be wearing it more in the spring/summer!
Items and Tools I used
- Base Coat
- Shimmery Pearl Shade Nail Polish – Essence Pixie Dust
- Red Nail Polish – Sally Hansen miracle gel, Rhapsody Red
- Pink Nail Polish – Orly Oh Cabana Boy
- Emerald Green Nail Polish – Avon Nailwear Pro+ Nail Enamel, Noir Emerald
- Neon Green Nail Polish ~ Chine Glaze In the Lime Light
- Mint Green Nail Polish – NCLA Santa Monica Shore Thing
- Shiny Top Coat
- Matte Top Coat
How I did the Nail Design
Start by applying a good base coat for a long lasting manicure and let it dry. For a smooth transition, choose a light color nail polish as a base. I used a multi-chrome pearly shimmer for the base. You don’t have to use a shimmery polish for the base. I had this polish on my nails already. So I just layered the colors over it.
Take a clean makeup wedge to create the gradient. The best way to clean a sponge is to use a piece of scotch tape. Gently pat the sticky part of the tape over the sponge to get rid of any lint or dirt. Get all the polishes and apply it onto the sponge slightly overlapping each other. I used Red, Pink, Emerald Green, Neon Green and Mint Green. (In the order from bottom to the tip)
Now gently dab the sponge onto your nails. Repeat the process until you get the desired coverage. I did four layers of sponging to get the opacity in the images. Seal the design with the top coat. After adding a shiny top coat, I applied a layer of matte Top Coat and really like the matte version of this gradient design.
